Myers had become a different person.

Not as much as other addicts, but there were needle marks on his wrist, and he gave off the dark aura unique to those who worked in the underworld.

Tristan clenched his teeth. “I told you not to do drugs.”

“You have to know what cake tastes like to make one. It was an unavoidable choice,” Myers replied lazily, scratching his body.

At Myers’s nonchalant attitude, Tristan’s face crumbled for a brief moment.

“You crazy bastard. Why the hell are you living like this? Get a grip!”

“Tristan. Stop hanging around the back alleys.”

“What? Are you kidding me? Then stop living like that.”

“You study like you are now and go to law school. I want to live like this, and you want to live like that. Let’s each go our own way.”

“You son of a bitch.”

Living like that and telling him not to care. Was he out of his mind?

He grabbed him by the collar. He raised his fist, wanting to beat him, but he saw his own face in Myers, the same face he saw in the mirror every morning.

Their eye color and hair color were different, but their bone structure was similar, and their eyes were exactly the same.

They were brothers.

The only two brothers in this world.

Born on the same day and abandoned together by trash parents.

The only one who could understand Myers’s depression and twisted way of thinking was Tristan, and no one else.

“Fuck.”

Goddamn Myers Bernadette.

Damn the Bernadette couple.

Why did they have to live like that and ruin even this kid…

Tristan sobbed bitterly, and Myers patted his older brother.

***

Myers and Tristan’s lives ran parallel.

That fact would not change even as time passed.

If one wanted to stop walking a parallel line, they had to bend the line.

“Why did someone from Cerberth come here?”

Tristan quit school immediately.

Life as a cop was not easy.

He was mocked for throwing away a promising life, and faced rare territorial attitudes every time he changed teams.

He proved himself through performance and showed his resolve by entering the Organized Crime Division, a department people avoided.

“Why did you join the Organized Crime Division? There are good departments like the Economic Division.”

To a colleague’s question, Tristan replied, “…When I was young, my little brother asked me what drugs were, so I told him to try it. I said it out of anger, but the bastard really did. I regret that.”

He had said that the moment he picked up crap like that, he was no longer his brother, but Myers didn’t just pick it up. He made it and carried it around, and Tristan still couldn’t cut him off.

Thanks to becoming a cop, he saw with his own eyes the victims his brother had created.

During his years on the force, he saw countless addicted cities and broken families.

After chasing for countless days with patience, he arrested Sunshine and put him in prison.

― Lucky Ginger attacked Orotaine Prison, resulting in 1 death and 5 injuries. Through the attack, Sunshine escaped…

― The investigation into escaped Sunshine is facing difficulties. According to a police official…

Lack of personnel, assigning responsibility, extreme danger, and so on.

There were limits within the police force.

That day, Tristan resolved to put Sunshine in the central government’s underground prison.

Using the modification techniques he learned from his adoptive father, who had been a magic engineering engineer, he overhauled a second-hand motorcycle.

By layering magic stones into the engine, he created an item rarely seen even in the underworld.

He bought a helmet and firearms.

Sometimes he spent his entire paycheck, other times he took out loans.

― The mysterious hero who protects Mist Island, Black Pistols!

As he patrolled every night, before he knew it, he was being called a hero: Black Pistols.

It was laughable.

He was only trying to catch his criminal brother.

Even though he patrolled daily, Sunshine’s power continued to grow steadily.

When he turned over a child who had lost their parents to the side effects of a drug Myers had made, he realized it wasn’t a time to be picky.

So he joined hands with Raphael.

With the resolve to regret it until the day he died, he put Myers in the central government’s underground prison.

Just when he thought he could take a breather, this day finally came.

The day he escaped prison and threatened those around him.

“Even if I kill you, you can’t kill me.”

“I might not kill you, but I can lock you up. Hand over the antidote formula.”

“Sorry.”

Red Shadow grabbed Sunshine by the hair and slammed him to the floor.

As a stream of blood dripped from his nose, Sunshine licked his upper lip, stained with blood.

“Ha… brother.”

Sunshine raised the corners of his mouth as if trembling with amusement.

“There was no such thing as an antidote. I lied to use Big Bear.”

“What?”

“What Big Bear had wasn’t an antidote. She was drunk and randomly mixed things as a joke. If that woman had taken it, she might have died.”

Maybe his lip was also split, because every time Sunshine spoke, blood splattered.

Black Pistols pushed Red Shadow aside.

Then, grabbing Sunshine’s face, he asked again.

“Is it true?”

“That’s why you shouldn’t walk around wearing that kind of helmet. You brought this on yourself.”

Red Shadow’s breathing grew heavier.

Black Pistols grabbed Sunshine and lifted him up.

“I’ll hand Sunshine over to the central government, so you… damn it! Are you not going to put the gun down?”

At Red Shadow’s gesture, the gun floated up.

Click.

The gun was loaded by magic.

As Black Pistols stood in front of Red Shadow in a defensive stance—

A harpoon pierced through Black Pistols’s thigh.

“Ugh!”

Black Pistols sat down involuntarily and turned his body.

Sunshine wiped the blood from his philtrum and lowered his eyebrows.

“You—”

“Go back to school even now. Get another job if you want. I don’t want to keep running into you. Get proper sleep at night.”

“You bastard! That’s all you have to say to me?”

“I told you. I can kill you. But if you promise to end it here, I’ll let you go.”

Whack!

Sunshine kicked Black Pistols’s helmet.

Meanwhile, Red Shadow opened fire at Black Cloak that had appeared at a short distance.

Rumble. Boom.

The bullets, stopped midair by clashing magic, crumpled.

The slashing spell from Black Cloak split the bullets.

Small fragments flew toward Red Shadow, but he used explosion magic to generate intense heat and melted them away.

“We must go.”

A voice altered artificially by magic flowed out from under the cloak.

Sunshine, who had been stomping on Black Pistols with gusto, panted. “Wait. Let me give this damn hero a warning.”

Lowering himself, Sunshine spoke in a voice only Black Pistols could hear, “Please, let’s stop now. I’m begging you.”

With that plea, Sunshine was swallowed by the shadows.

Meanwhile, Red Shadow wrapped Black Cloak in magic.

Black Cloak explained in a whispering voice, “It’s a drug that traps the soul in a dream.”

“What are you?”

“Summon Giselle Moltke’s soul.”

Crack! Thud!

As Black Cloak disappeared, the shattered bullets lingering in the air struck the wall under Red Shadow’s magic.

Red Shadow grabbed the collar of the fallen Black Pistols and asked, “Are you alright?”

“Are those buttons on your eyes?”

“If we go to a hospital, my identity will be exposed…”

Fog enveloped the two of them.

What are you… Before Black Pistols could finish his sentence, they were moved to Raphael’s safe house.

Wow, it’s getting more and more tense, and I really didn’t expect Sunshine to be Tristan’s brother. Thanks for the chapter ❤️
