“So, Lady, what were you talking about just now?” Nadia asked me.

I swallowed the sandwich I was chewing and told her, “Those women said I have a complicated love life.”

I pointed at the surrounding young ladies and noblewomen with my eyes.

“Goodness!”

Nadia looked genuinely shocked.

I glanced sideways at Nadia’s expression. Her clear eyes didn’t look scornful.

Noble society here seemed to treat complicated relationships as taboo—but maybe Nadia was different?

She asked, “By complicated… how many people are we talking about?”

“According to them, three.”

Oh my!

Nadia let out another gasp. Then she leaned in close and whispered, “Lady, do you have a secret?”

I looked at Nadia with suspicion. Her tone didn’t carry a hint of mockery, but…

To figure out what she meant, I answered, “There’s no secret.”

Because, after all, the whole ‘complicated love life’ thing was nonsense they made up.

Weren’t those three men completely out of the question for me?

One was the lackey of Dantalion—the demon I despised most.

Another looked exactly like my former contractor.

And the last one… just thinking about it made me mad. Do I really seem that easy?

To be mistaken for being involved with Nigel?

Even though I was currently in Isabella’s body and not my own, I was still furious.

While I was trying to suppress my rage, Nadia asked again, “Then, did you win them over with your natural charms?”

She looked sincerely curious.

What is with her? What is she?

I asked her a question in return. “Why are you asking me that?”

“Well, because I want to be like you, Lady.”

Hm?

Judging by her expression and voice, she seemed completely genuine.

So Nadia’s goal is to have a complicated love life?

That’s a pretty open-minded way of thinking for a human. Once again, she passes as Isabella’s friend.

Even though we were talking in relatively low voices, it was an open venue, so the conversation couldn’t be fully hidden.

“Lady Clement, what kind of joke is that to say so seriously?” A young lady sitting nearby scolded Nadia.

But Nadia opened her eyes wide and replied, “Huh? But I really do want to be like Lady Dunkeld.”

The people around her clearly didn’t believe her, so she added an explanation.

“It’s embarrassing to admit, but I don’t even have a fiancé, let alone any gentlemen pursuing me. But you, Lady, have not one, but several dashing gentlemen showing interest in you! Isn’t that amazing?”

I told you, it’s not about pursuit.

Still, I liked being called amazing.

Should I just leave Nadia’s misunderstanding as it is to preserve the image?

I was debating it for a moment when Nadia spoke again.

“And besides that, there are so many things about you I admire. If you hadn’t fought off the monsters alone yesterday, I probably wouldn’t be alive right now.”

Now that she mentioned it, that’s true.

Even if it was because the Crown Prince half-threatened me into it, everyone here would’ve become monster food if it weren’t for me.

I slowly turned to look at the people at the tea party.

Especially those who had picked a fight with me—I examined them closely.

“Even if the Lady hadn’t stepped up, the soldiers would have taken care of it eventually!”

Some young lady whose name I didn’t know said that—oh, right.

Besides Nadia, I don’t know the names of anyone here.

Alright, I’ll just refer to them by their features. Let’s call this one ‘black-haired young lady.’

Anyway, the black-haired young lady spouted something completely ungrateful.

I let out a small, incredulous laugh.

If there’s anyone here allowed to be ungrateful, it’s me.

I asked the young lady, “Do you really believe that?”

She didn’t answer but nodded enthusiastically.

Even after seeing the soldiers getting overwhelmed yesterday, she still thought that?

How stupid.

I muttered loudly enough for everyone to hear, “Fools tend to die quickly.”

“Lady, what do you mean by that…?”

“Hm? Don’t worry about it. I’m not the type to hate fools.”

“…I see.”

“Right. Watching someone die in front of me because of their own stupidity is actually pretty amusing. Why would I hate people who give me that kind of entertainment?”

“……”

“Ah. If you ever end up getting a look inside a monster’s belly, be sure to tell me what it looks like. That is, if you’re still able to talk.”

The black-haired young lady’s expression froze instantly at the clearly threatening remark.

It’s not like she had the excuse of being a selfish demon by nature—where did she get the nerve to act like that?

After that, the young ladies and noblewomen who had come to the tea party quickly left, but Nadia and I stayed behind and continued our conversation.

I focused on the snacks Nadia had brought.

After devouring each type of sandwich, I started dipping croissants in cream.

“Nadia, your family’s chef is quite decent.”

“Oh, really? Then how about visiting our house sometime, Lady? Our chef can make even more kinds of desserts.”

“I’ll think about it.”

“Also, Lady, would you mind calling me by my nickname?”

“Nickname?”

“You gave me the nickname Nana, remember?”

“I did?”

I had no memory of it, but seeing Nadia’s sparkling eyes, it didn’t seem like a lie.

Apparently, I had given her the nickname and forgotten all about it.

“…Nana?”

“Oh my gosh! I feel like we’ve grown so much closer, Lady!”

Nadia seemed to have a lot of questions for me.

She asked me about all sorts of things without pause. Since the desserts were delicious, I answered her as sincerely as I could.

Then, out of nowhere, Nadia asked, “So, Lady, when will you get engaged? Unlike me, you could do it anytime you wanted.”

I carefully chose my words while thinking about the aftermath Isabella would have to deal with later.

If someone had asked me—a demon—about getting engaged, I would’ve scoffed.

But I’m in Isabella’s body right now.

I picked and picked again until I landed on a response that Isabella could smooth over later.

“I’m not thinking about it just yet.”

Courtship customs in the Middle Realm and the Demon Realm are worlds apart.

Humans date and then marry, but in the Demon Realm, the concept of marriage doesn’t even exist.

Even the word ‘lover’ means something completely different between the two realms.

In the Middle Realm, lovers are typically in a mutually committed relationship; in the Demon Realm, it’s… more open.

I recalled the romance novels I’d recently read.

Among all those human love stories, there was one called a love triangle, right?

In the Demon Realm, love hexagons and dodecagons were common. Sometimes all the corners were messily entangled with each other.

It’s no wonder I told Nigel that those novels lacked proper representation of demons.

Of course, just because that was the norm in the Demon Realm didn’t mean I personally enjoyed such a lifestyle.

‘Lords usually tend to restrain themselves.’

I had asked Amon once:

“Amon, why don’t you have a lover?”

“Hm? Oh, that’s because I’ve already had all the fun I could ever want.”

“Huh? What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Well, at some point I even stopped counting my age… But back in the day, I dated just about every demon in the Demon Realm—”

“—You dated everyone?”

“Got tired of it once I passed ten thousand years old. Now, I get my joy from watching our adorable youngest grow up! Come here, let me give you a hug!”

“Liar! It’s just that you’re ugly and nobody likes you.”

“Sigh. You insolent little brat. If you weren’t the youngest, I would’ve taught you a lesson a long time ago.”

“Wait, Amon—did you just insult me?! I’m telling Lilith! Lilith!”

“…Oh no. My horn still aches from the last time she yanked it. Bella, please! Don’t! Ugh, that brat!”

In short, Lords had already played around so much that nothing excited them anymore.

Only Belial, as the Lord of Lust, was the exception.

As for me, I hadn’t played around nearly as much as the others, but…

‘Nothing ever feels quite right.’

One had a nose that was too big, another had dull eyes. Last time, I rejected someone because I didn’t like their pinky toe.

“Amon, I think our youngest has impossibly high standards.”

“Lilith, honestly, this is better. Could you sleep at night if our youngest had dozens of lovers? No dating until she’s over ten thousand years old.”

“You say that, but if Bella hears it, she’s going to bite again. You know how much she hates being told what to do.”

Why else would I have overheard this conversation between Lilith and Amon?

And of course, the moment they finished talking, I went and bit Amon.
