I always thought life in the Demon Realm was dull.

“Good heavens, Bella! What are you saying?”

Amon, who heard my muttering beside me, looked at me in shock and asked.

I snorted at Amon’s question.

All I did was say it was dull because it was dull—yet he reacted like that.

Right now, the two of us were on our way to the castle where the Demon God resided, having received his summons.

I looked around.

On the barren land where not a single blade of grass grew, black energy wavered. It was demonic energy.

The Demon God resided in the eastern part of the Demon Realm. The closer we got to his domain, the stronger the demonic energy grew, making it difficult for most demons to approach.

Originally, it was rare for high-ranking demons like me to walk on foot. Instead, we usually tore through space to move.

However, because the demonic energy in the Demon God’s territory was so dense, tearing through space wasn’t easy. So we had no choice but to walk like this.

…This is why the Demon God’s summons were always such a nuisance.

To think he would make me walk.

I frowned deeply. Amon glanced at my face and said,m”Bella. You need to learn how to manage your expression.”

“Why should I?”

“Sigh. The only reason Father tolerates you is because you’re the youngest. The Demon God is by no means a merciful being.”

While I couldn’t agree with the part about the Demon God “tolerating” me—

I did know well that he was not a merciful being.

‘A sort of instinct etched into my soul, maybe.’

A demon born through the power of creation held by the Demon God—especially one born with power like me—was connected to him to some extent.

Because of that, I could sense that the Demon God’s mind, tainted by demonic energy, was slowly crumbling.

He may have been different in the past, but the current Demon God had become cruel in nature.

In short—

“What can you expect from a senile old—mph!”

Amon covered my mouth, cutting me off mid-sentence.

I protested with my eyes. What was he doing right now?

Amon looked at me with a displeased expression. “One day, you’re going to get into big trouble because of that mouth.”

“Mph!”

“Is that not true? Well, your personality is probably a bigger issue than your mouth.”

“Mph—! Mph!”

“Sigh. Who can we blame? It’s our fault for spoiling you just because you’re the youngest.”

After saying that, Amon removed his hand from my mouth.

I immediately exploded in fury. “What do you think you’re doing—!”

“Did you forget that we’re in Father’s territory right now? He has sharper hearing than you’d expect.”

Amon spoke calmly to me. At his words, I paused for a moment and then continued.

“That doesn’t change my opinion. Father is sen—. Well, anyway. That’s that.”

“…Yeah. That sounds more like our youngest.”

Even as he said that, I didn’t completely ignore Amon’s warning.

It wasn’t that I feared the Demon God… but I was a demon with thoughts of my own.

It was definitely not because I was scared of him.

We started walking toward the Demon God’s castle again.

On the way, Amon asked me, “So why do you think life in the Demon Realm is dull?”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

I answered Amon’s question.

Demons were belligerent beings. But in the current Demon Realm, there was no one who could fight me.

Lesser demons lived each day fighting desperately to survive, but that was a completely different world from mine.

There were hardly any monsters in the Demon Realm that posed a threat to me.

Even if one did appear, I was treated as the youngest among the Demon Lords, so I wouldn’t be the one sent to fight it.

The Demon Lords stronger than me would go easy on me no matter how much I challenged them.

And as for tormenting demons weaker than me—it had been fun the first few years, but I lost interest long ago.

Was this the kind of dilemma that came with living a perfect life?

Amon made a reluctant face at my words. “Hmm… Since you’re turning a hundred this year, I guess it’s that time.”

Did humans call this adolescence?

Amon muttered something to himself, clicked his tongue, and spoke again.

“Youngest. Being bored is a good thing. It means life is peaceful.”

He said this while patting my head.

I irritably swatted Amon’s hand away and said, “Amon… what kind of demon says such weak things?”

Talking about peace as a demon? Demons were beings born to seek conflict and strife.

At my words, Amon shook his head and patted my head again.

I was about to smack his hand away once more—but then I saw the darkness in his eyes. And I hesitated for a moment.

When I blinked, Amon’s eyes had returned to normal.

As I wondered if I’d imagined it, Amon opened his mouth.

“Youngest. Even demons… get tired when conflict drags on.”

His sincere tone made me tilt my head. Then, a certain fact came to mind.

“Ah. I forgot. You’re actually pretty old, Amon.”

Amon gave a short laugh and said, “Our youngest, always so arrogant despite knowing how old I am.”

I dodged Amon’s fingers as he tried to pinch my cheek, frowning.

In the Demon Realm, age was something to be proud of. It meant you were strong enough to survive that long.

Usually, older demons received a certain level of respect, but I was different.

A demon’s pride is everything. How could I speak formally to a fellow Demon Lord?

I dismissed the idea of rank among Demon Lords entirely.

Still, thinking about Amon’s age, I could understand why he said such un-demon-like things.

It had been around twenty thousand years since the war with external enemies ended. Amon had lived over fifty thousand years.

Unlike me, who had inherited memories from the previous wielder of the Power of Contracts, Amon had experienced the war firsthand.

“Was the war that horrible?”

“…Why do you think all the Demon Lords are like this now? Gabriel wasn’t always such a bastard.”

At the mention of Gabriel, I scowled.

Seeing my expression, Amon shook his head and continued, “It was bearable when Uriel was around. But after Uriel disappeared and you showed up…”

Uriel had been the previous holder of the Power of Contracts. A new wielder could only be born when the previous one died.

My existence was proof that Uriel had died.

Gabriel had loved Uriel. They said he became much worse after her death.

Unconsciously, I rubbed my neck with one hand.

Gabriel’s personality went far beyond just being “bad”…

In any case, a demon born tainted by demonic energy could never truly understand emotions like love.

I wore an indifferent expression. “Well, they did seem pretty close.”

“…Youngest? Why are you talking like you saw it yourself?”

I answered Amon, puzzled by his reaction, “I inherited Uriel’s memories. So it’s not much different from seeing it firsthand, is it?”

“Ack!”

Amon suddenly let out a scream.

“Our youngest is way too young to be seeing that kind of thing! You’re just now hitting three digits… No boys until you’re four digits old—no, five digits!”

Watching Amon getting overly immersed in this whole family play, I clicked my tongue inwardly.

“No girls either! And if you ever end up like Belial, switching genders or something—ugh, I shouldn’t even say it.”

He didn’t want to plant any weird ideas in the youngest’s head.

Amon kept muttering to himself for a while.

“Anyway.”

After calming down, Amon spoke again.

“If life in the Demon Realm is so boring, how about spending some time in the middle realm? Our youngest hasn’t been there yet, right?”

“I tried before… but Lilith stopped me.”

Lilith had firmly insisted I shouldn’t go to the middle realm until I was at least a hundred, for my own safety.

Most of the middle realm consisted of weak humans, but…

“Was it the beastkin? I heard there are still a few of those losers left.”

Demons didn’t have a particularly bad relationship with beastkin. They even had periodic exchanges.

But after the Beast God died, all contact was lost. Since we didn’t know what state the beastkin were in, Lilith opposed me going there due to potential risks.

“Losers, huh… Our youngest really talks like a true demon.”

Amon sighed and pressed a hand to his forehead.

“You’ve grown up so demonically… This big brother is proud of you. But why do I also feel a little uneasy?”

Maybe it would’ve been nicer if I had grown up a little gentler.

Amon mumbled to himself.

I ignored his muttering and said, “I told you to stop calling yourself ‘big brother.’ You and Belial both go on and on about that whenever we meet.”

“Belial says that too? Hmm… Technically, Belial’s not a ‘big brother’ so much as a—no, never mind.”

Amon cut himself off and stared at me.

“What’s with that look?”

“Youngest, from now on, don’t get too close to Belial. Don’t even talk to him, got it?”

“Where is this coming from?”

I looked at him, puzzled.
