The Possessed Evil Woman Wreaks Havoc - Chapter 60
[Watch carefully. This will be quite the spectacle.]
With that, Belial turned his attention back to Kayden. “I have so many questions about the temple. Would you share them with me, Sir Knight?”
“I doubt such topics would interest you, Miss Green.”
“Oh, anything would be fine! I’m just curious about how you spent your days at the temple!”
How pathetic, Belial. Is this truly how someone over twenty millennia old should behave?
I shook my head in disbelief.
As Belial continued to pester him, Kayden reluctantly began to answer her questions.
“Morning prayers, followed by training. Afternoon prayers, then more training. The day ends with evening prayers.”
“……”
Belial’s face briefly froze as he considered Kayden’s unrelenting schedule. Recovering quickly, he forced a smile and responded in an exaggerated tone.
“Your devotion is truly remarkable, Sir Knight!”
“Is that so.”
“Though I’ve been too busy to visit the temple myself, hearing your story inspires me. Perhaps I should start attending weekly services!”
“That would be a good decision.”
“If I go to the temple, would you guide me, Sir Knight?”
“The priests would be better suited to that task.”
Pfft.
I suppressed a laugh.
Despite Belial’s beauty and blatant flirting, Kayden’s responses remained purely professional. If anything, he seemed mildly annoyed by the conversation.
[It is an amusing sight.]
[What’s with this guy? Why is he reacting like that?]
Belial couldn’t hide his inner confusion.
[Am I not pretty right now, Bella? How can he behave this way after seeing my beauty?]
[How far will you degrade yourself? Just give up already.]
[…Let me try just a bit more.]
Despite my advice, Belial continued to engage Kayden in conversation. But Kayden’s replies were consistently brief and unyielding.
Eventually, the exasperated Belial began asking random questions.
“I’ve heard devout believers sometimes hear the voice of the god directly. Have you ever experienced that, Sir Knight?”
‘As if that’s possible.’
The god had vanished centuries ago. There was no way a mere human, who had lived only about twenty years, could have heard its voice.
I fully expected Kayden to deny it. But for the first time, his composure wavered.
What’s this?
Belial and I exchanged a look of shared bewilderment.
After a long silence, Kayden finally spoke.
“…A long time ago, God told me He loved me.”
Belial and I exchanged another glance, our expressions mirroring shock and disbelief.
We both knew how absurd his statement was.
“What did you do in response?” I cautiously asked Kayden.
He answered with a distant, almost dreamy gaze. “…The strongest and most beautiful being I have ever seen extended a hand to someone as insignificant as me, a mere human. How could I possibly refuse Him?”
“Oh my, how moving! I feel like crying!”
Belial exclaimed theatrically, but through magical means, he said to me:
[I’m giving up. His mind is already filled with someone else. Trying to seduce him is inefficient and likely to fail. I’d rather use that effort to sway ten other holy knights instead.]
Hearing this, I smiled at Kayden.
Kayden, you may have escaped Belial’s clutches, but your fellow knights at the temple will soon face a calamity because of you.
…It’ll be entertaining. I’ll have to watch.
With that, the tea time concluded. I asked Kayden to leave, saying I had something to discuss with Belial in private.
The moment he stepped out, I turned to Belial and said, “It must be a lie.”
“Who knows?”
Belial pinched my cheek and whispered into my ear, “Unlike you, who’ve only lived six hundred years, this big sister has over twenty thousand years of experience.”
“Don’t call yourself my sister.”
Why does he insist on calling himself my sister when he’s clearly male? It made my skin crawl.
I tried to swat his hand away, but no matter how many times I struck, his hand remained firmly on my cheek.
“When you’ve lived as long as I have, you can easily discern lies. He wasn’t lying. At least, he truly believes what he said.”
“Do you think that makes sense?”
“I agree it’s strange. There shouldn’t be any gods left now.”
Belial let go of my cheek, placed a finger on his chin, and fell into deep thought.
“The Demon God is sealed, the Celestial God is missing, and the Water God has been dead for some time.”
At the mention of the Water God, I froze. It was a god I had completely forgotten about.
The Water God had been the deity governing the middle realm but had died before I was born.
“Now that you mention it, there was such a god.”
When I muttered to myself, Belial was startled.
“Oh, my!”
He began counting on his fingers before speaking again.
“Hearing this makes me realize how young our youngest is. After all, the Water God died about ten thousand years ago. Of course, you wouldn’t have seen her.”
I nodded in agreement.
“Well, not having met the Water God doesn’t mean you’re missing out. She was weak and unremarkable as far as gods go.”
I despise weak things, even if they’re gods.
For a moment, a look of contempt flickered across Belial’s face. Then he composed himself and said, “That holy knight either truly believes his words or perhaps… he’s met someone who thinks they’re a god.”
***
Sigh.
A frustrated sigh echoed through the dressing room as Belial looked at me.
“Bella, could you repeat that line again?”
“Ah, I cannot forgive you. I will kill you. Hi-yah!”
“For heaven’s sake…” Belial buried his face in his hands and mumbled, “What am I supposed to do with our youngest?”
Earlier, Belial had asked me to recite lines from the script to test my acting ability.
I complied, performing the scene as directed. But with every word I spoke, Belial’s face grew paler.
I asked him, “Is there something wrong with my acting?”
“It would be harder to find something that isn’t wrong. For starters, why do you keep going ‘Ah’ like that?”
“I’m not sure.”
The interjection just naturally stuck whenever I thought about acting.
“And who yells ‘Hi-yah!’ when trying to kill someone?”
I pouted.
Sometimes, I used to taunt enemies before killing them. It was a habit.
“Bella, just close your mouth and watch me.”
I stared blankly at Belial, who winced in apparent pain.
“How can someone with such a perfect face be such a terrible actor?”
Belial was surprisingly serious about the play. His initial plan was to cast me in the production to use the Saintess’s reputation to promote the performance.
However, my acting skills were jeopardizing his plans.
“If the Saintess’s reputation is all that matters, does acting ability even matter?”
“But I can’t compromise the quality of the play! Just thinking about how one bad actor could ruin everything… Ugh! I can’t forgive you, even if you are the youngest!”
After deliberating for a moment, Belial sighed and said, “Alright. It can’t be helped. I’ll give you a role that doesn’t require any lines.”
“Hmm.”
For some reason, Belial’s words suddenly made me uneasy.
And shortly after, my unease became reality.
“Belial, are you kidding me?” I gritted my teeth and spoke.
“Bella, this isn’t my fault. It’s your atrocious acting skills. Initially, I planned to give you a decent supporting role.”
I frowned at the dwarf costume I was now wearing.
Belial clapped his hands in delight as he grinned at me. “This role has no lines. All you need to do is circle the stage at the right moment and leave.”
“This outfit is too short.”
“Ah, that’s because dwarf roles are usually played by children. Hmm, Bella, could you crouch down for a moment?”
Though I glared at Belial, I followed his instructions.
“Perfect. If you walk like this, you’ll be the same height as the other dwarfs.”
“Argh!”
I was furious. Why did I have to endure such humiliation?
Grinding my teeth, I held back my anger.

“You’ll find the other dwarfs over there. Wait with them until it’s time to go on stage.”
Following Belial’s instructions, I walked backstage, where a group of children was gathered.
As I approached, most of the children looked at me with wide eyes filled with shock.
I plopped down among them, sighing deeply.
I couldn’t wait for this wretched play to be over.
Just then, one of the children cautiously approached me and asked, “Sister, why are you so big if you’re a dwarf?”
“…That’s just how it is.”
