“Saintess, are you alright?”

I waved Kayden off as he tried to help me.

“Enough. Leave us.”

“But Saintess—”

“I need to speak with this person privately. Now, get out.”

“Without even knowing what kind of relationship you two have—”

“We are acquaintances,” the woman interjected, covering her mouth with a fan, revealing only a sly smile.

“Didn’t you just say she was stunned by your beauty? How can you call yourselves acquaintances?”

“Many react that way after not seeing me for just a few days. It’s nothing unusual.”

The woman smoothly deflected Kayden’s comment with her light, playful tone.

“We are acquaintances. There is a private matter we need to discuss, so leave.”

Having recovered somewhat from the shock, I straightened my posture and addressed Kayden firmly.

“…I will wait outside.”

Without further protest, he left the room. Once I confirmed the door was fully closed, I turned to face the woman.

“Belial.”

The woman’s true identity was none other than Belial.

Hearing my words, Belial’s lips curled into a grin so wide it almost reached her ears.

“I didn’t expect to see our youngest here.”

Unlike the deep, resonant voice of the Belial I knew, her voice was now sultry and lilting, sending chills down my arms.

Taking a deep breath, I calmed myself and scanned Belial from head to toe.

It was clearly a woman’s body…

“Belial. I always knew you weren’t entirely sane, but what is this?”

“Hmm? Can’t you tell? I’m enjoying myself.”

“I’m asking why you look like that.”

Demons are born as either male or female. Belial was undeniably male. So why was he in a woman’s form?

At my question, Belial burst into laughter.

“Pfft!”

After laughing alone for a while, he wiped away tears and replied, “Oh, our youngest is so naive. Is this body really what bothers you?”

I gave a small nod.

Snap!

With a snap of his fingers, the seductive woman vanished, replaced by a tall man with a pale face and sharp features.

Snap!

Another snap, and now he was a brawny mercenary with vivid, bulging muscles.

Snap!

With one more snap, he returned to the form of the alluring woman.

“This body is just one of my many personas. One identity isn’t enough to fully enjoy the middle realm.”

“But why does one of your personas have to be female?”

“Switching genders allows me to attract both men and women—”

“Shut your mouth.”

Ugh.

I glared at him as if looking at a bug.

I’d long known that Belial was ruled by lust, but I hadn’t realized it was this extreme.

No wonder the other lords detested him.

Belial, unfazed, spun in place and covered his mouth with his fan, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

“This is my favorite persona. Her name is Lia Green, the lead actress of the Serenity Theater. The story goes that as a child, she followed her merchant father to the Eastern Continent, where she trained in singing and dancing under a master.”

Why put so much effort into a fake backstory?

And…

“Why use the surname Green?”

“Because it’s my favorite color.”

Belial’s answer made it clear he thought my question was odd.

Judging by his reaction, it wasn’t intentional.

Well, the surname Green is common enough.

‘Ethan’s surname happened to be Green too.’

I opened my mouth to ask again.

“And that ridiculous manner of speaking you just used—”

“Everyone in the Eastern Continent speaks like this,” Belial replied in that sultry tone again.

Sigh.

Seeing him like this made me feel as if boiling water had been poured over me. It was excruciating.

Belial, unconcerned with my grimace, smiled brightly and asked, “This way of speaking enhances Lia Green’s charm. It’s just like your way of speaking, isn’t it?”

“My way of speaking isn’t some act. It’s how I naturally talk.”

“…Sure, let’s go with that.”

Belial shrugged and continued, “But why is our youngest in the middle realm? If I recall correctly, you dislike coming here.”

“……”

Where should I start? Should I even bother explaining?

While I pondered, Belial suddenly exclaimed as if something had occurred to him.

“Ah, that’s right! You’re here on Lilith’s errand, aren’t you?”

“Errand?”

“Yes, an errand. During the last meeting, Lilith said she had sent you on an errand.”

Lilith said that?

I immediately assumed Belial was lying. But upon reflection…

‘It might not be a lie.’

Since being trapped in a human body, life had been so eventful that I’d temporarily forgotten—the day of the regular demon realm meeting had passed a few weeks ago.

Lilith wouldn’t have missed the fact that I didn’t attend the meeting. And yet, for her to excuse my absence to the other lords in such a roundabout way…

‘Could Lilith be the one who put me in this state?’

But what reason would she have? Lilith… cares for me.

Though my mind was in turmoil, I opened my mouth before the silence dragged on too long and made Belial suspicious.

“…Yes, that’s right. I’m here in the middle realm on an errand for Lilith.”

“Hmm.”

Belial smiled brightly and reached toward my face.

“Stop it.”

In an instant, he grabbed my cheek and pulled it mercilessly.

I slapped his hand away and stepped back a few paces.

“Why are you so cold, little one? Do you know how upset I was not seeing you at the last meeting?”

Belial pretended to wipe away tears. His dry eyes made his theatrics all the more absurd.

When I gave him an unimpressed look, he dropped the act and returned to his usual grin.

“Anyway, do you know what came up as an agenda item at the last meeting? They wanted to kill me! Said I’m a disgrace to the demon realm!”

Belial burst into laughter.

I raised an eyebrow. In the past, I might have thought killing Belial was excessive. But now…

Belial batted his long, thick eyelashes at me, exaggerating every blink.

‘He truly is the disgrace of the demon realm. Ugh, disgusting.’

Tilting his head, Belial seemed to recall something. “Oh, there was another agenda item… but I can’t remember it. Must not have been important.”

He dismissed it casually and asked, “You won’t tell me what errand Lilith sent you on, will you?”

“Correct.”

“Well, that’s fine. I’m not that curious anyway. What I am curious about is something else.”

Belial scanned me up and down.

“Let’s start with that body of yours. Our youngest has quite the pretty shell, doesn’t she?”

Belial strode toward me, brought his nose to my neck, and sniffed audibly.

“What’s this? It’s really a human body. And earlier, that man called you Saintess…”

Belial studied my face for a moment before asking, “Don’t tell me this body is Isabella Dunkeld’s?”

“…It is.”

Denying it now wouldn’t fool him.

Leaving out the part about my powers being sealed, I gave Belial a rough summary of what had happened so far. Of course, I omitted the most critical details, making my story almost entirely fabricated.

“So, you’re saying you came to the middle realm on an errand for Lilith, found an empty body, took it over, and now you’re posing as Isabella Dunkeld?”

Belial summarized my story.

When I nodded, he pinched my cheek again and muttered something to himself.

“Hmm. How peculiar.”

I slapped his hand away. Why was he so obsessed with pinching my cheeks?

“Do you know how shocked I was when I heard a Saintess had been born? I worried that the long-missing angel had returned. But in reality… it was this.”

Belial shook his head and asked, “So, why did you suddenly become a Saintess? Is this also part of Lilith’s errand?”

“Of course not. It just seemed fun. A demon becoming a Saintess—how could I pass up such a monumental act of blasphemy?”

“……”

Belial’s expression froze briefly before breaking into a radiant smile.

“Oh my! Bella, you’re a genius! What a brilliant idea!”

“Right? It’s a very demonic and clever idea, isn’t it?”

“Absolutely! I must spread the word to all demons about how diabolically cunning our youngest is—!”

Belial excitedly grabbed my hands and bounced up and down.

This time, I didn’t pull away and twirled with him instead.

‘Though… is having Belial’s approval really a good thing?’

The thought briefly crossed my mind, but I brushed it aside.

Meow?

From my pocket, Blackie stirred awake, seemingly disturbed by the commotion.

I stopped spinning and scratched behind Blackie’s ears to help him settle back to sleep.

Noticing Blackie, Belial tilted his head and asked, “What’s that?”

“Blackie. I brought him from the demon realm. Here, he’s known as the divine beast summoned by the Saintess.”

“Even the so-called divine beast is actually a demonic beast? Incredible. Bella, you’re a master of blasphemy.”

Belial clapped his hands in admiration.

Tilting my head back dramatically, I basked in his applause.

I truly am a magnificent demon.
