The Possessed Evil Woman Wreaks Havoc - Chapter 152
“The stench of blood is suffocating,” I muttered to myself.
It might sound strange, but as a demon, I wasn’t used to war. In the Demon Realm, wars didn’t happen.
‘It’s not like there are enough demons for a full-scale war anyway.’
More than that, the biggest reason was that alliances between demons were nearly impossible.
Even when conflict arose in the Demon Realm, it was usually one-on-one.
That was why I could never understand humans, who joined forces just to kill one another.
Before I could sink further into these thoughts, Lenny, standing next to me, spoke up.
“Wow, Hyungnim, can you really smell blood right now? From here?”
“Yes.”
“Hyungnim, are you a dog or something? How’s your nose that good?”
I shot Lenny, who was babbling cheerfully, a sidelong glance.
The way he spoke without thinking felt oddly familiar.
And at some point, Lenny had stopped speaking formally to me.
Pointing that out felt… well. To be honest, I wasn’t the type to care much about humans speaking casually to me.
Didn’t Gabby also speak informally to me?
Fine. I’d let it slide.
But calling me a dog was something I could not overlook.
I stomped hard on Lenny’s foot.
“Ow!”
“Just pretend you got stepped on by a passing dog.”
I ignored Lenny, who was hopping in pain, and turned my eyes back to the battlefield.
The border battlefield stretched out below us, heavy with tension and urgency. The two nations’ armies stood face to face, guarding their territories.
No battle had broken out yet, but both sides were fully prepared to clash at any moment.
I frowned slightly.
Belial was supposed to be here?
The Belial I knew… at least by demon standards, he wasn’t fond of conflict. Among demons, he could almost be called peaceful.
‘So why is the Lord of Lust on a battlefield?’
He wasn’t Amon, the Lord of Wrath. Belial had surely come to the Middle Realm for entertainment, so why bother being here?
Could it be the Mercenary King wasn’t Belial after all? For the first time, with the stench of blood so thick on the battlefield, that thought crossed my mind.
At that moment.
A figure stepped out from one of the camps.
He was a man, taller than the rest by at least a head. Despite his massive build, his stride carried the grace of a predator.
In his hand was a spear. A spear so tall it nearly matched his height, yet he carried it effortlessly, without the slightest sign of strain.
And in a place where swords and arrows flew freely, the man wore no armor—just trousers and a tunic.
The moment I laid eyes on him, I recognized him at once.
‘Belial.’
I had grown so used to his female form that seeing Belial in a male body now felt almost strange.
“That is the Mercenary King.”
Gray said to me. I only nodded in silence.
For a brief moment, I had doubted, but it was true—the Mercenary King was Belial.
“The Mercenary King, does he have a name?”
“Ah, his name isn’t known. His closest men simply address him as ‘Your Highness,’ never by name.”
“It’s a wonder his head is still attached to his neck.”
If he really had been human, that would have been the case.
In that instant, Belial turned his head in my direction. I sucked in a sharp breath.
From where he stood, there was no way he could see us. I knew that. And yet my mouth went dry.
‘It’s just Belial, isn’t it?’
And yet, the fact that I instinctively stepped back from the pressure he exuded—it stung my pride deeply.
But Belial, apparently not having noticed us, soon turned his head back.
He rolled one shoulder lightly, then hurled the spear in his hand toward the opposing camp.
Everyone watching held their breath at Belial’s action. The flight of the spear seemed to make time itself stop. Only when it pierced into the very center of the enemy camp did the onlookers finally breathe again.
It had been a spear, yet it had flown as far as an arrow. A feat no human body could ever achieve.
‘Why is he so angry?’
I could sense raw fury in Belial’s movements.
Belial, showing anger… At least in front of me, I had never once seen him like that.
Which was why the Belial before me now felt so unfamiliar.

Suddenly, because of the spear that flew from the enemy camp, the Silveron Kingdom’s side was thrown into chaos.
Well, in the face of such overwhelming intimidation, it was only natural for humans to be afraid.
After throwing the spear, Belial, as if he had no further business, simply returned straight to his tent.
Having confirmed the true identity of the Mercenary King, we crouched down and talked for a while.
The three mercenaries wore dumbfounded expressions, still shaken by the display of Belial’s power.
I, on the other hand, focused on something else.
Why on earth was Belial on a battlefield? And those eyes of his that seemed unusually serious. Was there some story behind it?
“Does the Mercenary King’s tent often have women coming and going?”
At my question, the three mercenaries stared at me with wide eyes.
“We’ve never heard such a rumor.”
“Besides, the Mercenary King is famous for being an ascetic man. I get what you’re thinking right now… but give it up. Even if you are pretty, Hyungnim, you couldn’t bring down a man like that.”
Those words snapped me awake.
I immediately understood what Lenny had just implied. Smiling sweetly, I reached out toward his ear.
“Aaaargh!”
Lenny’s scream echoed everywhere.
“Once again, the Mercenary King is not my type. I have high standards,” I said firmly.
We continued our conversation with Lenny’s scream in the background.
“What did Serenia Kingdom pay the Mercenary King to hire him?”
“Money, of course. Mercenaries always move for money.”
At Lenny’s words, Gray and Jerry nodded in agreement.
“How much did they pay, then…”
I let my words trail off.
There was no way Belial would move for mere money. Maybe not as much as me, but Belial had amassed considerable wealth in the Demon Realm.
“It’s strange. The Silveron Kingdom is famous for having its treasury filled with treasures. And with the Empire backing Silveron, how could Serenia Kingdom possibly offer the Mercenary King a greater sum?” Lenny muttered.
Seeing him speak normally, I realized I had loosened the strength in my hand.
“Aaaargh!”
Lenny’s scream rang out again.
Whatever Belial’s scheme was, I could just ask him directly when we met. After all, meeting Belial was the reason I came here.
“For now, we’ll join Silveron’s camp. Then we’ll go to see the Mercenary King.”
Though I wanted to go straight to him.
But if I went as I was now, my identity would be exposed. Unfortunately, Isabella Graham was currently being pursued by her relatives.
Once I left, for Isabella Graham to return to her original life, she would need another identity to take on for now.
‘If that identity is Archangel Isabella, then I can achieve another purpose at the same time.’
“Hyungnim. Could you tell us clearly what your purpose is in meeting the Mercenary King? Was that also something ordered by Lord Isabella?”
Hm?
At Lenny’s question, I answered honestly, “No. With the Mercenary King, I have personal business.”
“So what is it?”
I hesitated for a moment, but decided it was fine to tell them at least this much, and opened my mouth again.
“There’s a human I need to find. I simply thought using the Mercenary King’s connections would make finding him easier.”
At my words, the three mercenaries exchanged glances.
“If it’s about finding someone, we can help. In our mercenary work, we’ve tracked people down plenty of times before.”
At Gray’s words, I shook my head. If the person I was searching for were an ordinary human, I never would have come this far in the first place.
“I don’t know his name. I don’t know his appearance. All I know is that he is alive, somewhere.”
I bit my lip mid-sentence.
Because I knew how strange my words must sound.
