The Possessed Evil Woman Wreaks Havoc - Chapter 150
“Wow! As expected, Hyungnim, you’re amazing.”
Fortunately, Lenny didn’t take my words literally and seemed to think of them as mere bluff.
I sat back comfortably and watched the mercenaries set up camp.
Gray and Jerry worked skillfully, while Lenny was clumsy at it.
When I pointed this out, Gray glanced at Lenny and said, “According to his own claim, Lenny is the runaway son of a noble family. Maybe that’s why he’s bad at this kind of menial work.”
From his tone, it was clear Gray didn’t believe Lenny’s story.
“How many times do I have to say it? It’s not just a claim, it’s the truth!”
Gray and Jerry ignored him like they were used to it.
I glanced briefly at Lenny. Mercenaries didn’t have a good reputation.
Especially among nobles. So the idea of a noble becoming a mercenary made no sense.
But.
‘Just because you’re a noble doesn’t mean you only pursue refined things.’
Take Gabby, for example. Wasn’t he a disgraceful scoundrel with not a shred of noble dignity?
Well, Lenny’s true identity wasn’t important right now. I decided to let it slide.
The campsite was soon complete.
I sat in front of a bonfire, small but burning brightly.
“Hyungnim, aren’t you sitting too close? Your clothes could catch fire.”
Lenny looked concerned as he asked me.
I waved my hand to show I was fine.
As if a demon like me could be bothered by a mere flame.
The demonic energy in the air and the flickering flames made me think briefly of the Demon Realm.
We sat around the fire and talked about our future plans.
Gray spoke first.
“To meet the Mercenary King, we’ll have to join the front lines as well. He’s currently hired by Serenia Kingdom. How about we sign up there as mercenaries too?”
I nodded.
But then Lenny suddenly raised his hand and said. “Come on. Hyungnim, joining as a mercenary? Who’s going to believe you’re a mercenary?”
Lenny wasn’t wrong. My current appearance was clearly that of a noble lady raised in luxury.
And these hands, without a single callus. No one would think they belonged to a mercenary.
But I was an experienced impostor. If a demon like me could act the part of a saintess, then pretending to be a mercenary would be nothing.
“Still, if you show your strength once…”
Lenny cut Gray off mid-sentence.
“Of course your strength is outstanding. But the moment you reveal it, rumors will spread. People’s eyes will be on you. And right now… aren’t you on the run? So attracting too much attention is dangerous. The family might find out.”
Lenny wasn’t completely thoughtless, it seemed.
That’s true. I did need to be cautious right now.
I had no desire to get entangled with the Graham family.
“You’re right.”
When I agreed with Lenny, he looked rather proud and said, “See? I know what I’m talking about. I’ve been on the run for a long time too. I used to worry that if I became a famous mercenary, my parents might come looking for me.”
I gave Lenny a once-over. He was stronger than an ordinary human, but no matter how I looked at him, he didn’t have the qualities to make a name for himself as a mercenary.
Pointless worry. That was my conclusion.
“So, how about joining the front lines as a healer instead? Hyungnim, can you do first aid?” Lenny asked me.
Tch. The only body I could heal was my own. And even that wasn’t real healing, but just enhancing my natural recovery through demonic power.
So I asked Lenny, “If I can put someone in a state where they can no longer feel pain, would you count that as healing?”
“Are you saying… death counts as treatment too?”
“Correct.”
In other words, useless. So being a healer was out.
Gray and Lenny put their heads together, trying to think of another way to get me onto the battlefield.
Then, suddenly, I had a good idea.
“Silveron Kingdom. Since they’re the Empire’s dogs, their people must be deeply devout, right?”
“Well, yes. I’ve heard that country has more devout believers than most.”
Lenny’s words completed my plan.
I wasn’t trying to join the war in the first place. I just needed to infiltrate the camp to confront Belial.
So really, it didn’t matter if I slipped in on the enemy’s side.
Silia had said she had a way to stop Gabriel.
But I couldn’t bring myself to trust her completely.
So I needed to find my own way as well. A way to stop Gabriel. Preferably, one that would keep him from ever appearing before me again.
To impersonate an archangel for centuries and still evade capture by the Celestial Realm, that impostor was no ordinary human.
Isn’t there a saying?
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
I needed to meet that impostor at least once. Who knows? We might even form an alliance and fight against Gabriel together.
To do that, I would also need to impersonate an archangel. Archangel Isabella.
Then the enraged impostor would surely come looking for me.
A strategy of impersonating the impersonator.
I came to this conclusion and spoke aloud, “Listen well. From now on… we’re going to perform a very entertaining play. Your role will be priests.”
And my role would be Archangel Isabella.
With this play, we would infiltrate Silveron’s camp.
I declared proudly.

My plan was perfect. At least, in my eyes.
But to others, apparently not.
“Hm. I never would have imagined it. I thought using the title of Mercenary King was reckless, but to think someone even more reckless existed.”
Gray looked at me as though staring at some bizarre creature.
“Hyungnim, it doesn’t make sense in the first place. How could a human impersonate an angel? Lies like that won’t work, and if you’re caught, it’s straight to the gallows. Or a stoning.”
“Impossible. Insane.”
Even Jerry, who had barely spoken until now, added a word.
Hm. It seemed persuasion was needed.
“The truth is.”
I began.
All three of them turned their eyes toward me at once.
“You asked earlier the secret of my strength. How I could wield such power in this body.”
I picked up a few stones from the ground to demonstrate.
When I clenched my fist and applied strength, dust began to fall to the ground.
“The truth is, I made a contract with a demon. That is the secret of my strength.”
It had only been a hundred years since the Demon God was sealed. Even four hundred years from now, people still wouldn’t have a favorable view of demons. Now, it would be even worse.
But I knew the trait of those who worship strength.
They worship power itself, so the means of gaining that power meant little to them.
It wasn’t full survival of the fittest, but mercenaries followed similar rules.
Their reaction was just as I expected.
“A demon? Wow! Hyungnim is even greater than I thought!” Lenny exclaimed, full of excitement.
Jerry’s reaction was the same. Though he didn’t speak, his bright eyes were fixed on me.
“A contract with a demon, you say. But aren’t you the descendant of a saintess? That doesn’t sit right. If the saintess were alive, she would be gravely disappointed.”
Gray, on the other hand, was more conservative.
Still, this was better than most. Normally, at the mere mention of demons, humans would recoil in horror.
Of course, my claim of being a demon’s contractor was a lie.
“Don’t worry. If the saintess were alive, she would have applauded the fact that her descendant made a contract with a demon.”
It was true. Daphne would have laughed herself silly over it.
Gray tilted his head, then asked me, “So then, which demon did Bella make a contract with?”
“One of the lords of the Demon Realm. Isabella.”
There was no need to bring up the name of another demon.
At my words, Gray made a strange face.
“Isabella? Ah.”
A strange reaction. As though the name Isabella was unfamiliar to him.
It wasn’t that Gray had no knowledge of Isabella.
But.
“…You made a contract with quite the demon.”
Sensing my reaction, Gray hastily added the words.
That man.
His attempt to appease me only made me more annoyed.
I knew that compared to other lords, my name wasn’t as widespread in the Middle Realm.
But wasn’t that because humans had credited my feats to Archangel Isabella instead?
Me. How great a demon was I—
And then Gray’s next words cut off my thoughts.
“Now that you mention it, I heard about another of Lord Isabella’s contractors. The one currently leading a cult of demon worshippers. That person is also said to be Lord Isabella’s contractor.”
What?
