The Possessed Evil Woman Wreaks Havoc - Chapter 102
“A demon comes to mind.”
Nigel murmured to himself. Of course, my ears picked up his voice.
I shot him a sharp glare. Noticing my stare, Nigel gave an awkward smile.
“Our Bella’s ears are sharp too.”
With that, Nigel said he had something to do and left the room.
I took a moment to gather my thoughts.
Gabriel had sent his subordinates to the Middle Realm to capture the one impersonating an archangel.
But sending angels now, of all times—when I’m in the Middle Realm?
Calling that coincidence didn’t sit right with me.
But there wasn’t enough information to draw a clear conclusion.
I asked the angels, “So where is this impostor?”
I figured I had to see this strange demon with my own eyes.
But their answer couldn’t have been more disappointing.
“…We don’t know. Lord Gabriel just said the impostor is due to appear, so we came to the Middle Realm.”
“How did Gabriel know they’d appear now?”
“Well, Lord Gabriel’s wisdom far surpasses that of ordinary beings like us. I’m sure he has his own methods.”
Surely that ‘us’ doesn’t include me?
And putting that aside, Gabriel was an idiot.
From the very beginning, he tried to kill me.
‘It’s not like killing me would bring back the previous contractor.’
Back then, I hadn’t even reached full maturity.
Harming a child is taboo in the Demon Realm. Yet he attacked me, and right in front of Lilith.
He nearly made an enemy of the entire Demon Realm in one rash moment—Gabriel clearly lacked brains.
Come to think of it.
I should really rename Gabby. No way I’m letting the descendant of Daphne and Ethan carry the name of that idiotic angel.
‘How should I convince him…’
Well, I’ll think about that later.
Anyway.
We caught the angels, but it didn’t yield much. If anything, more questions arose.
Gabriel’s behavior was especially incomprehensible.
‘And those visions I saw back on the stage too.’
I glanced at the angels, Gabriel’s subordinates.
Both looked visibly nervous.
One of them cautiously asked, “So, Miss Demon, can we go now? We answered everything you wanted to know.”
I replied with a bright smile, “Do I look insane to you?”
Letting Gabriel’s subordinates go? They’d run straight to him and report our encounter.
Still sealed in a human body, meeting Gabriel now would be troublesome.
Considering his hostility toward me—it was obvious he wouldn’t pass up a chance like this.
‘If this body gets damaged, I’m in big trouble.’
I have to return it intact to Isabella once I’m done using it.
Most injuries I can heal with my magic, but if I end up fighting an archangel, it won’t be just any injury.
So I’ll have to keep these angels somewhere I can monitor them.
“There’s someone I want you two to meet.”
I smiled as I said this to the angels.
***
Good heavens.
Jessie was left speechless for a while after meeting the angels.
Well.
As much as I hated to admit it, those two were fairly handsome by angel standards.
Though not quite to my taste.
‘They’re missing something crucial in terms of aesthetics. Tsk.’
“Miss, you’re truly blessed.”
After a long silence, Jessie finally regained herself and said that.
“So who exactly are these two?”
“Jen and Jen.”
“…They have the same name?”
“I hear it’s trendy for twins to share names these days.”
“Huh? That’s the first I’ve heard of it.”
Of course. That trend didn’t exist.
Lying comes as naturally to demons as breathing.
Jessie tilted her head but didn’t question it further.
“By the way, miss, what are their genders?”
Good point.
I scanned their faces. No features suggested one gender or the other.
“You two, answer her.”
One of the twins spoke, “First off, my name isn’t Jen. It’s Jane. I’m a woman. And that’s my twin brother, June. He’s a man.”
“Wow! So it’s Lady Jen and Lord Jen. Pleased to meet you both!”
Jessie reached out and offered them a handshake with a bright smile.
Come to think of it, Jessie was quite… well, unique in her own way.
I got straight to the point.
There was a specific reason I introduced those two to Jessie in the first place.
“Jessie, those two are your slaves from now on.”
All three of them stared at each other in shock.
The first to recover was Jessie.
“Miss? S-slavery has been abolished in the Empire for quite some time. There are no official slaves in the Empire.”
“Then let’s call them unofficial slaves.”
“That’s not the point—how could I possibly dare to—”
“Jessie. Humans are said to be creatures of adaptation. Just work them hard under your feet.”
“Still—”
“Jessie. I believe in you.”
“…You believe in me? Then I can’t betray your trust, my lady.”
Hm? I’m not sure what part of that convinced her, but Jessie no longer objected.
One of the Jens spoke up then.
“Demon… no, Miss Isabella? What did you just say we are? Slaves?”
Hm.
They didn’t seem too happy with the situation.
I smiled brightly and said to Jessie, “Jessie. Step outside for a moment. Ah, and no matter what you hear from inside, don’t come in.”
***
A little later.
Nom.
I lay comfortably on the sofa, chewing grapes one by one.
“Sigh. No, no, that’s not how you clean. You’ve got to put some force into your fingertips! That’s the only way to wipe off dust properly.”
She claimed she couldn’t handle slaves, but…
Contrary to her words, Jessie had a talent for bossing others around.
“Jen, go and massage the lady’s legs. No, not that Jen—the female Jen!”
And the angels obediently followed Jessie’s orders.
As Jane came over to massage my legs, she whispered softly to me, “Miss Isabella—”
“Call me Bella.”
“—Bella, could you at least call us by our names? I do have a perfectly good name—Jane.”
“That’s because you two look identical. How am I supposed to call you differently when I can’t tell you apart?”
I dismissed Jane’s request lightly.
Then I fell silent, deep in thought.
Even though I had the angels under watch like this for now, it was only a matter of time before Gabriel found out I was in the Middle Realm.
“What in the world is going on here?”
Just then, Nigel’s voice echoed in the room.
Back from wherever he’d gone, Nigel rubbed his eyes as if he couldn’t believe the sight before him.
Jessie beamed as she greeted him. “Oh, Nigel! I have two slaves now!”
“Slaves? Bella, what ridiculous nonsense did you come up with this time?”
“…Jessie, take them and teach them the house rules.”
I sent Jessie off with the angels.
Left alone with Nigel, I gave a brief explanation.
“As long as they know about me, I can’t let them go. I don’t want the Celestial Realm to know my current situation. So for now, I plan to keep them under watch like this.”
“Still, making angels into slaves is a bit—”
“A bit?”
“Well, now that I think about it… it’s pretty demon-like. Especially considering what those angels did to you back then.”
Nigel initially looked ready to protest but soon agreed.
Anyway.
I spoke seriously to him.
“Nigel, I think the time has come.”
“…Whenever you say things like that, it freaks me out. I get chills all over.”
I ignored Nigel’s words and went straight to the point.
“I have to return to my original body. As soon as possible.”
I’d already been planning to, but meeting these angels made me realize how little time I truly had left.
Until I meet Gabriel.
Just then, Gabriel’s voice echoed in my head like an auditory hallucination.
“…I despise you. You should not exist like this.”
When did Gabriel say that to me again…? Thinking back, he said something similar every time he saw me.
No wonder the memory didn’t stand out.
