Since then, the angels never came looking for me again.

And then—

“Bella, our youngest… I heard the strangest rumor about you recently…”

“Hmm?”

“Ha… Look at that innocent face. There’s no way our adorable little one would have such a terrible kink. Of course not.”

Judging from what Amon said to me a while back, it seems there’s quite the amusing rumor going around about me.

Still, to run into those same angels again.

I let go of the angel’s wing and got to my feet.

Freed from my grasp, the angel quickly backed away.

Seeing the two of them ready to flee, I spoke, “If you want to run, go ahead. Just so you know, I have terrible aim.”

So if I aim for your legs and accidentally blow off your heads, that’s on you.

I stared down the two angels in front of me.

Seriously, having two identical-looking guys in front of me was irritating.

If it weren’t for the scar on one of their wings, I wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.

At my warning, the two froze in place.

With a crooked smile, I said, “I remember now. You bastards were child kidnappers.”

One of the angels stammered, eyes trembling, “When I saw you lick your lips, I had a feeling… You really are the Lord of Contracts?”

Their faces hardened as they realized my identity. It was obvious—they were terrified.

I sneered at the two of them. “Looks like you’re scared. You should’ve behaved yourselves.”

Well, it’s funny for a demon like me to talk about living virtuously…

But at the very least, they should’ve behaved in front of me.

“…Bella. What’s this about child kidnappers?”

Nigel, who had been quietly listening, asked me.

I briefly explained what had happened in the past.

“…So those guys tried to snatch up an innocent, clueless young demon. They’re child kidnappers.”

Maybe my intimidation wore off for a moment, but one of the angels snapped at my accusation.

“Ha! ‘Miss Demon’? That’s a bit much. No matter how young, the Lord of Contracts couldn’t possibly be an ordinary kid.”

Miss Demon?

That was a new one. And rather insolent at that.

In a voice filled with fury, I addressed the angel who had said it.

“Miss Demon? You think I’m your friend or some subordinate?”

“Well, no… but still, speaking politely to a demon feels a bit… Our races don’t exactly get along.”

“Why don’t we get along? Isn’t it usually demons who start things with angels?”

“…That’s exactly what it means to not get along. Do you have any idea how many troubles demons have caused us?”

Ah. So that’s how it is.

I always thought only demons hated angels, but turns out angels hate demons too?

How outrageous. How dare they hate demons?

Normally, I’d have hung those angel bastards upside down and wrung their souls dry…

But I could save that for after I returned to my original body.

For now…

“First, tuck away those irritating wings.”

At my command, the angel with wings quickly hid them.

I continued, “You bastards serve that son of a—Gabriel—”

I stopped mid-sentence. Me, a refined demon, saying such a crude word?

That’s definitely Gabby’s foul mouth rubbing off on me.

I restarted from the top.

“Why are angels in the Middle Realm?”

At my question, the two exchanged glances. Then one of them spoke, “I’m Jane, and my brother is June. We’re practically Lord Gabriel’s right and left hands.”

Saying that with such confidence…

‘So they think name-dropping Gabriel will make me back off.’

Gabriel was undoubtedly someone I couldn’t take on right now. Picking a fight with his underlings wasn’t the smartest choice.

But since when have I ever been rational?

“So your names are Jen and Jen?”

“I said Jane and June—”

“You both look the same anyway. Might as well use the same name.”

Bella, what kind of logic is that? And why do you love renaming people so much?

Nigel whispered to me, but I pretended not to hear.

“Jen and Jen. You bastards are Gabriel’s right-hand men… then if I kill you both, he’ll be left with one arm.”

I said with one corner of my mouth raised.

Only then did the angels begin to grasp the situation—their faces slowly turned pale.

First things first.

I glanced around. It didn’t seem like anyone would come this way, but just in case…

I should just kidnap these guys and bring them back to the duke’s estate.

I snapped my fingers. At my command, the magic flowing from my body seeped into the angels.

Thud.

The two angels collapsed to the ground, showing no sign of movement.

“Bella. Don’t tell me you killed them?” Nigel asked.

Thinking he was joking, I scoffed. “Do you really think I’m someone who’d take lives so easily—”

“……”

The moment I met Nigel’s eyes, I realized.

“—You did think that.”

I scowled. Just what do you think I am?

“You… I’m disappointed,” I said and turned my head away sharply.

***

“No, Bella. I said I was sorry, didn’t I?”

Nigel, with an unconscious angel slung over each shoulder, trailed behind me, begging for forgiveness.

But my mood had long since soured.

Demons as a race tended to value life less—but I was different.

I was raised properly. I hold back at least three times before deciding to kill—

Huh?

The thought that flashed through my head made me frown.

I wasn’t raised properly. I didn’t even have parents. So what’s this about being raised?

Well, I guess being raised by Amon and Lilith could count in the broad sense…

But those two treated lives like flies. Holding back three times? As if.

They were the kind of demons who’d kill someone on the spot for breathing wrong.

So why did I just think that?

As my expression darkened, Nigel began to panic.

“Bella, I know you’re one of the more merciful demons. That was seriously just a slip. Just a mistake!”

As Nigel kept apologizing, we finally arrived at the ducal estate.

The moment we opened the gate and stepped into the mansion, Gabby came to greet us.

“Hey!”

He yelled the moment he saw me, and I instinctively frowned.

“If this is a contest to see who can yell louder, you win. I see now, your voice must be the loudest in the Empire.”

“Ugh, stop deflecting. You seriously came home like that?”

Gabby gestured toward Nigel behind me.

I looked back and saw Nigel with an angel hanging from each shoulder.

First time seeing a kidnapping?

That’s everyday stuff in the Demon Realm—

Ah. Right.

Kidnapping isn’t common in the Middle Realm, huh?

Only then did Gabby’s reaction make sense.

I said honestly, “I kidnapped them.”

“—What?”

Gabby looked like he couldn’t believe what he’d just heard, so I repeated myself, “I kidnapped them.”

“Haa… You’ve really lost it. A so-called Saintess going around kidnapping people—Are you bored with life? Are you getting into trouble on purpose because you have nothing better to do?”

“……”

“And if you’re going to kidnap someone, do it discreetly! Or at least ask me—not that I would’ve helped, of course!”

Though honestly, he sounded like he would’ve helped. Must be my imagination.

Anyway, I hurried to explain myself before he got any angrier.

“It was a joke. I just found those two passed out in the street. I’m the benevolent Saintess, remember? I couldn’t just leave them lying there.”

I thought it was a decent excuse, but for some reason, Gabby’s expression didn’t improve.

“…The second part sounds more realistic, so why do I feel like the first part is the truth?” Gabby muttered to himself.

Sharp guy.

“Sigh. I’d better set the record straight before weird rumors start spreading.”

With that, Gabby left.

“Humans are way too nosy.”

In the Demon Realm, no one would bat an eye if I walked around carrying two unconscious angels.

When I grumbled to Nigel, he clicked his tongue and replied, “Bella. I’ve told you before—that’s only normal in the Demon Realm.”

Anyway.

Nigel continued, “Things were so hectic earlier, I didn’t even think about people watching. Glad he’s handling it.”
