Isabella Dunkeld was a notorious evil woman renowned throughout the Aizen Empire for her depravity and eccentricities. She had the prestigious background of being the eldest daughter of the  Dunkeld Ducal House, one of the most powerful families in the empire.

However, there was not a trace of the dignity that a direct descendant of the Dunkeld family ought to possess. Instead, she repeatedly brought disgrace to her family’s honor. Squandering the family’s wealth for her lavish lifestyle was commonplace. There was even a famous anecdote that she had poured wine over another young lady’s head just because they wore similar dresses.

Most of Isabella’s vile actions stemmed from her obsession with the Crown Prince. She shamelessly showed a fanatical obsession with him. At first, the Crown Prince tolerated it to some extent, given their childhood friendship. But as her obsession intensified, he eventually cut ties with her.

Not long after, an incident occurred at a ball hosted by the imperial family. Lady Clement, who attended as the Crown Prince’s partner, collapsed from unknown symptoms. Everyone suspected Isabella, and that included her own father, Duke Dunkeld.

“Isabella!”

The Duke swung open the door without knocking. Perhaps because it was still early in the morning, Isabella had not yet woken up. Seeing his daughter lying peacefully in bed, rage flared within him.

The Duke roughly pulled the blanket away. At that movement, Isabella barely stirred.

“Lady Clement has collapsed! The  Marquis’s servants testified that she met with you the day before the ball. It must be your doing!”

The Duke cast a look of contempt at his daughter, who had once again tarnished the family’s honor.

On the other hand, Isabella, who had just woken up, wore a dazed expression. If one looked closely, it was clearly the look of someone confused. However, in the eyes of the Duke, who had lost all reason in his anger, it merely appeared as an audacious attitude that refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing.

“Isabella! Speak if you have anything to say!”

Isabella merely blinked her large eyes and looked at the Duke. The moment their eyes met, the Duke felt a surge of anger from his chest.

Her face resembled his late wife’s. It was because of that face that he had turned a blind eye to Isabella’s misconduct all this time.

But that ended today.

He swung his hand sharply.

Smack!

A harsh slapping sound echoed through the room.

The Duke, even in his middle age, continued to train in swordsmanship without rest. Isabella’s head snapped to the side without any resistance at the force of his strike.

Seeing his daughter’s cheek turn bright red, the Duke’s heart wavered slightly. Nonetheless, he gritted his teeth.

It was a parent’s role to correct their child’s wrongdoings.

Isabella was still his child—at least for now. Although how long she would carry the name of Dunkeld remained uncertain.

Yet Isabella showed no reaction to the Duke’s slap.

Could it be that she was shocked to be struck by her father for the first time in her life?

That thought crossed his mind first, but it was the Duke’s delusion.

“How dare—” Isabella muttered.

How dare? The Duke flinched at the words that came from his daughter’s mouth. Could his ears have been mistaken?

The Duke thought he knew his daughter well. Isabella acted like a tyrant towards others but became a meek lamb in front of her family.

The Duke despised that brazenness of hers.

She would cause all sorts of trouble outside and then put on a pitiful act in front of him, which only further irked him. He understood that she acted that way in a desperate attempt to be loved by her family, yet his heart refused to open to her.

Not even one endearing quality could be found in her.

But now wasn’t the time to question his hearing. He had to wonder if perhaps his sight was also failing, considering the sight unfolding before him.

Isabella was looking at him with fierce eyes. It wasn’t the kind of gaze a refined noble lady would have.

Even during his time on the battlefield, he’d never seen eyes that raw and wild.

As much as he hated to admit it, the Duke recoiled slightly under Isabella’s presence.

Isabella touched her lips with her hand. Having been struck earlier, her lip was split, and her hand came away stained with blood.

Had she sobbed and begged for forgiveness as usual, the Duke’s heart might have softened. Not because of his affection for his daughter, but because he didn’t want to see that face, identical to his late wife’s, crying.

But Isabella did not beg for forgiveness. She wiped the blood from her lips with a rough gesture and spoke in a chilling voice.

“How dare you lay a hand on me. It seems you have no regard for your life.”

The unfamiliar tone in her voice only added to the Duke’s confusion. So much so that he couldn’t avoid his daughter as she came toward him in swift strides.

The moment his face entered her reach, Isabella swung her hand without a hint of hesitation.

Smack!

The sound of her palm meeting his cheek echoed through the room. It was quieter than before, but it was unmistakably the same type of sound.

Unbelievably, he had just been slapped by his daughter. The Duke could not accept this reality.

‘How could that child…?’

Isabella, too, couldn’t accept reality.

“…It hurts?”

Isabella looked down at her own hand with a look of disbelief. She alternated her gaze between her hand and Duke Dunkeld.

“Why are you standing there unscathed?”

It was undoubtedly a shock to be struck by one’s own child. However, no matter how much a noble young lady, who had never held anything heavier than a wine glass, might strike, it would only be unpleasant but would cause no actual harm to a martial man like the Duke.

Yet Isabella genuinely seemed perplexed, as if she couldn’t believe the Duke was still standing.

Barely recovering from the shock, the Duke massaged his temple. Where should he start scolding her? He realized that when his anger reached its peak, he lost his words.

Meanwhile—

Isabella, or more precisely, the demon Bella possessing Isabella’s body, was bewildered.

‘What on earth is happening here?’

***

Having been born as a demon, I had experienced many things. I thought there was nothing left that could surprise me, but…

I looked down at my hands. They were pale and delicate, hands that seemed to have never experienced hard work.

I could tell instantly. These were not my hands.

Ignoring the human standing in front of me, I walked briskly toward the mirror in the corner of the room. When I checked my reflection in the mirror—

‘Who is this woman?’

Questions filled my head. In the mirror, a woman with an innocent face was looking back at me.

‘She wouldn’t survive a day if she fell into the Demon Realm.’

That was my immediate thought.

A weak body that seemed to have nothing but skin and bones. Shiny hair that was perfect for drawing the attention of the monstrous beasts. Moreover, a naive face that would easily provoke the sadistic urges of demons.

The problem was that this woman was me. To be precise, I was now inside this woman’s body. For a demon like me, being in such a feeble body was utterly humiliating.

‘Who dared do this to me?’

Anger surged within me, turning my vision white.

“Isabella.”

The man in the same room spoke, looking at me.

Apparently, this body’s name was Isabella.

I glanced at him. The shock of finding myself in a human body had made me momentarily forget what had happened earlier.

‘Did that human hit me? How dare he?’

I had been stabbed in the heart before, but this was the first time I had been slapped. I was used to all kinds of pain, but this humiliation felt utterly foreign.

That man would regret today for the rest of his life. Demons were beings who forgot kindness and repaid grudges a hundredfold.

The man should consider himself lucky. I wanted to retaliate immediately, but there was something more urgent.

I needed to return to the Demon Realm and regain my original body.

“Human.”

“Hah! Isabella, how dare you speak to your father like that—”

“You will pay for the impudence you showed today.”

Even though I had kindly warned him, the human didn’t understand and yelled loudly at me.

“Isabella Dunkeld! Your arrogance ends today! From now on—”

“Don’t raise your voice. It’s making my head ring.”

“……!”

The human grabbed the back of his neck and began muttering something. Losing interest in him, I tried to create a portal back to the Demon Realm.

But—

Ack!

As I attempted to use magic, an excruciating pain I’d never felt before struck my chest. The pain was so severe that my vision briefly went white.

Cough!

I coughed up blood. The white negligee I was wearing became stained with bright red blood.

“Isabella!”

The man shouted in shock at the sight of me, but I ignored him, trying to understand the situation.

‘A magic seal. Someone has inscribed a magic seal on my soul.’

It was an intricate and sophisticated magic seal—one that even I, a Demon Lord, couldn’t easily break.

I realized just how dire the situation was.

All my magic had been sealed by the magic seal. If I tried to use magic by force, my soul would shatter.

If that happened, I would die.

‘Damn it!’

What was I supposed to do, sealed in a human body? A body that couldn’t even use magic.

Despair engulfed me.
