“Was it not you who did this?”

“What kind of rudeness is this, Pope.”

“Did you cast some kind of magic on Haniel’s body?”

As I was searching for Orias, I instinctively hid at the sound of voices beyond the door. Orias and Lucius were speaking.

He had pressed and rubbed my cheek last night, and now he was interrogating Lucius after realizing there was a seal there.

Since Lucius was the only one capable of engraving a magic seal, it must have been easy to find the culprit.

Well done, Orias. Find out what this is!

I was also curious about the unknown seal, so I held my breath and listened closely to their conversation.

“I have no idea what you are talking about. I have no intention of wasting time here, so I shall take my leave.”

“Wait.”

The slightly open door suddenly shut with a loud bang. I had been leaning close, and I flinched, hastily covering my mouth.

Ah, I nearly screamed.

Suppressing my pounding heart, I carefully moved closer and pressed my ear against the door. With it now closed, the voices inside were quieter.

“Depending on what kind of seal you engraved… I might be willing to cooperate.”

“…That eals was engraved just in case. If the Saintess were to collapse…”

“…With that, even if she dies, her soul can be bound…”

<Information about the ‘Unknown Seal’ has been acquired!>

  • The ‘Unknown Seal’ was engraved by Lucius.
  • The seal is sustained by Lucius’s magic (Current magic level: 80%).
  • Under certain conditions, the player’s consciousness can be forcibly summoned.
  • If specific conditions occur (player’s death, logout) while magic power is maintained, forced summoning is possible.

As I focused on the fragmented voices, I gained new information.

…Why do bad premonitions always turn out to be correct?

<A shared route for capture characters ‘Orias’ and ‘Lucius’ has been created!>

  • Entering the shared route increases the likelihood of forced summoning being maintained.

The two of them, whispering away, had ended up creating a new route.

Orias, instead of helping me remove the seal, was actually planning to use it.

I had been cheering for him, but that was clearly a mistake.

“After the coronation, something will happen to Haniel. At that time…”

Wait, how does he know that?

Orias was speaking to Lucius about what would happen after the ending, as if he had predicted that I would see the game’s ending and log out.

How could he predict that something would happen, and how could he know it would happen at the coronation?

Growing anxious, I waited for their next words, but suddenly, both fell silent.

<All characters have been captured, so route information is now accessible.>

  • Would you like to view it?

I furrowed my brows and nodded.

<Shared Route ‘Collusion’>

  • This route includes all captured characters.
  • The ‘Collusion’ route can only lead to a confinement ending.
  • Characters in this route may be added or removed depending on circumstances. [Current participants (2)]
  • If Ending Entry Event (2) ‘The Whereabouts of the Secret Document’ fails, this route will activate automatically.

Calming my pounding heart, I carefully read the system window.

So, in conclusion, if I fail to find the secret document, there’s a high possibility I’ll be dragged back here even if I log out?

If I could freely log out, that would be ideal. But considering how this game has progressed so far, I highly doubted it.

If time continued to pass at this rate and I was unable to log out, the logical assumption was that I would remain trapped.

Even if I saw the ending, the game might continue with a post-ending scenario before starting a new playthrough. In most games, such post-endings wouldn’t last long.

But not in this game. No, this game had detailed everything to absurd levels—even implementing the process of growing old and dying after the ending.

So, does that mean I’d have to live in this game for at least another six years, including the three years added in the latest patch?

If that happens, my brain might actually melt.

No way, that’s impossible. I don’t want to die inside a game.

I gave up on eavesdropping and carefully moved away. If I got caught, things would get even worse. My legs trembled, and I nearly stumbled several times, but I managed to steady myself.

Getting caught would be disastrous…

“Oh dear, it seems Haniel overheard something.”

Orias pressed his index finger to his lips, and shortly after, there was a faint sound of someone trying to walk quietly outside.

They were trying not to make noise, but the occasional faint sound of shoes tapping against the floor could still be heard.

Orias slightly opened the door and glanced outside, confirming Haniel’s retreating figure before murmuring softly. Lucius, too, clearly saw Haniel staggering away.

They silently watched Haniel’s back disappear. Once she was completely out of sight, Orias closed the door, and Lucius finally spoke.

“An anomaly after the coronation?”

“Yes. I can’t be certain, but if something happens to Haniel, that will surely be the moment.”

“Wasn’t the Saintess supposed to return to the Holy Kingdom?”

“That is what I had hoped for as well…”

Orias let out a bitter smile and shook his head.

The one occupying Haniel’s body was an unknown soul. There was no way to determine its identity.

Even when he tried using holy power to discern the truth, an even greater force blocked him. Since his abilities did not work on Haniel, it was impossible to manipulate her memories and make her reveal the truth herself.

What he had figured out so far was limited. However, one thing was certain—anything that disrupted Orias’s focus was always related to Haniel.

Details about the secret document, which had been stolen without even knowing when, the prophecy to welcome back the person who retrieves it as the Saintess, and the obligation to participate in the ritual and coronation.

At the center of all these irrational events was Haniel.

There were four others in the Empire who seemed to have had similar experiences as him. Among them, Lucius was somewhat useful.

Unlike holy power, magic was different. While Orias could not inject holy power into Haniel’s body, Lucius was able to engrave a magic seal on her.

“Are you sure the magic seal is effective?”

“I confirmed that she is affected by the seal. This one should work as well.”

At Lucius’s response, Orias tapped his chin with his finger in irritation.

The thought of sharing her with someone from the Empire was unbearable, but he needed Lucius’s help to keep Haniel here.

‘After figuring out her identity, the First Prince can be dealt with separately. For now, even after the coronation…’

Buying time was the priority.

Suppressing his swirling emotions, Orias made a proposal.

“I’ll share information about Haniel. If you also want to keep her here, it would be wise to cooperate.”

I need to find it. I need to read the document immediately. I need information on how to remove the magic seal or completely escape from this game.

Standing far from where they were conversing, I clenched my trembling hands and thought.

If I want to log out as I wish, I must find the document right now. Now that Lucius has colluded with Orias, I can no longer expect him to show me the document willingly.

Orias was following the system’s instructions by telling me to read the document, but he didn’t seem to care whether I actually read it or not.

This game put unnecessary detail into landscapes, objects, and even minor extras, yet it had fundamental flaws in its key mechanics.

Characters that move on their own without the player’s input were one thing, but the fact that they were interfering with my ability to log out was a serious issue.

People have mentioned logging out and re-entering the game, yet no one has filed a complaint about it—how is that not suspicious?

The Saintess is a Spy! had far more errors and strange elements than people realized.

If I manage to log out, I must write down everything I experienced to prevent more victims like me. And I’ll make sure to warn others never to wear this ring.

As I glared at the ring tightening around my index finger, I thought.

This ring, which I received as a reward, is the root of all these problems.

Ugh, it still won’t come off.

I twisted it forcefully, but the ring clung tightly to my finger, refusing to budge.

“Ugh…”

“Saintess, are you in pain?”

“Ah! Adrian?”

“Why are you sighing like that…?”

While I was struggling to remove the ring, I suddenly heard a voice behind me. I flinched and spun around. Adrian, holding a pile of documents, was passing through the hallway with several others. After motioning for them to go ahead, he approached me.

Noticing the redness of my fingers from where I had been struggling with the ring, Adrian frowned. He placed the documents down at his feet and took my hand.

“It’s all red. Is it because the ring won’t come off?”

“Yes…”

“Dietrich asked me once how to remove a ring, and I wondered why since he wasn’t even wearing one… so it was about you, Saintess.”

I suddenly remembered the time Dietrich poured oil on my hand. Even then, the ring didn’t budge.

“That was quite a while ago… Has it not come off since then?”

“Yes. It’s been even longer than that.”

“It’s not tightening or hurting, is it?”

As Adrian examined my swollen, reddened finger with concern, I let him hold my hand and responded.

“What did you tell Dietrich?”

“I told him to cut off the finger.”

“…Let go of my hand.”

“Do you really think I’d cut off your finger?”

“Well, you once said you’d cut off someone’s wrist if they weren’t the Saintess.”

“That was…! Because I didn’t know it was you back then.”

As I tried to pull my hand away, Adrian quickly defended himself with an aggrieved expression. I understood his frustration, but I also had my own grievances.

Before I captured him, he once warned me to be careful with my wrists! All the capture characters in this game were terrifying. If Adrian, one of the more virtuous ones, was like this, then Orias, who was the epitome of evil, must be plotting something even worse!

I sighed deeply and extended my hand to Adrian once more.

At the very least, this was someone who once clung to me, crying, and begged me not to return to the Holy Kingdom. Surely, he wouldn’t actually consider cutting off my finger.

“But, Saintess, why won’t this ring come off? It doesn’t seem too tight for your finger… is it some kind of magical problem?”

After carefully inspecting the ring, Adrian asked.

“Well, that’s… Ah.”

I had been about to answer carelessly, but then I saw the pile of documents at Adrian’s feet and swallowed hard.

The documents—I need to find them.

I really should ask for Adrian’s help.

“Yes, it’s a magical issue. I do know a way to remove it, but…”

“What is it? Tell me, and I’ll help.”

Sensing that I wanted to ask him for something, Adrian immediately responded without hesitation. His clear expression showed that he was willing to do anything for me.

For a brief moment, I felt guilty for taking advantage of his trust, but this wasn’t the time to dwell on such things.

Leaning in, I whispered softly into Adrian’s ear about the document I needed to find.
